John Williams began Sunrise Excavating and Paving in 1978 with a backhoe, a dump truck and a desire to be the company that people called for their backhoe or excavation needs. One year later he incorporated the company, hired a couple of employees to help him out and has slowly built the company into a 30-employee, family-centered paving contractor that proudly serves Redding, Red Bluff, Anderson, Cottonwood and Mt. Shasta.
No job too big or too small
We are involved in public and private work projects throught Northern California. Typically, we are a site work contractor providing infastructure and paving for new and existing structures. We believe the site work is the most important phase of construction. A finished project is only as good the foundation on which it is built. Our grading and paving equipment has state of the art laser technology to ensure precise accuracy for finished elevations. Our experience helps us select proper equipment to condition sub-grade soils to achieve maximum compaction results. Our equipment inventory let's us achieve this in a timely manner. Our installation of underground utilities and infrastructure are made to have continuous use for years. Sunrise has the equipment and experience to complete the most complex site work project. We have become a well known company with a good reputation for quality work. With a Class A contractor's license, Sunrise can perform a great variety of work. Our work includes earth moving, grading for commercial site work, clearing brush, installing underground conduit, storm drains, sewer and water and placing concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks. Our paving division installs parking lots or driveways for homeowners.
Second generation management
John has begun to pass the reins on to his children. He is proud of how they have taken the bull by the horns and begun the growth process to take the company into the future. The family-owned spirit is a big part of the success of the company.
